Dear Mother Ocean,
Oh, how I have missed your cooling embrace coursing over my skin. These last few weeks of being landlocked have been tough. This is the longest I’ve ever gone without as much as stepping my toes into salty water. I know I am not alone.
When we have you in our lives, we take you for granted. For this, I am sorry. We don’t mean to be dismissive of your power and control of our direction. We just grow comfortable in your presence.
I promise I will never forget your importance again.
When I close my eyes I am transported to you, like putting a seashell to my ear. I can hear the breaking waves on the shoreline. I can feel the cool salty spray settling on my lips.
Recently, I have learned how to guide my daydreaming. I can feel a calm flow over me. My anxiety levels fall, stress drifts away in the outgoing tides of my mind. You cleanse my mind as much as you purify my skin.
We aspire to reinvent ourselves in our daydreams – which inspire our realities – if it means we get one more drop of your sweet elixir.
While turning to fantasy and tricking my mind, I find a dose of happiness in these landlocked days. Everything in visions path becomes a face or wall to carve my thoughts through, throwing spray over cactus spikes and book spines.
You connect the planet in a way nothing else can. Bordering lands you send messages in currents to distant shores. Your vast healing impact on lives is astonishing. I know my soul is safe with you. At a single drop, you can give a transformative experience to those most in need.
We aspire to reinvent ourselves in our daydreams – which inspire our realities – if it means we get one more drop of your sweet elixir.
On behalf of us all that need you in our lives, I would like to say thank you. Thank you for holding us, supporting us, and caring for us on your surface from the depths below.
Take our love and give us a promise of a reunion again,
Always yours,
Children of the Ocean
